Cohesive Bonded Brothers—Again!
By Dick Heller, “The Gun Dude!”
"Screaming Eagle" Army Paratrooper for 101st Airborne Division
Washington DC – As Veterans from all branches of the military, we have been acting as coordinated players to eliminate attack and strife at home and around the world. In one form or another, we have acted as “sheep dogs” to protect America after hearing the wolves howl -- from 1776 to even today.

We were all strong “Cohesive Bonded Brothers” while we were in the Corps, the Guard, the Ship, or Wing -- on land, the water, in the air, or anywhere. Once unplugged from our military support system and thrust back to civilian life, we may or may not have linked up with a military lodge for often-needed support.
With VeteranLegacy.com, our nation’s new "VetNet," that all begins to change. Veteran Legacy Network will serve as a single source for ALL Veteran services --our one-stop focal point to reach anything and everything Veteran.
Additionally, more of us are beginning to recognize that our services may be called upon once again to act as sheepdogs on the Homefront …and I'm saying, you can almost count on it. (The wolves are getting restless.)
With VeteranLegacy.com, we will once again be able to connect with local teammates using VLN’s one-stop check-in point, should you want to meet up for any reason. The secret is having one-stop access to comrades nearby. Bravo to the Veteran Legacy Network for finally making this happen!
Respectfully yours,
Dick Heller

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Dick Anthony Heller was born in San Diego to a navy family while the Japanese were bombing Pearl Harbor. As a military brat the family traveled & moved extensively and lived in post-war EURO. As a young observer of war-time destruction and understanding of the unique value of life that seems to only come with age... "War SUCKS."

Dick Heller graduated from Manteca High School in California. Defense of Country motivated him to immediately join the Army at 17 as a Paratrooper, "Screaming Eagle" 101st Airborne division, was a Sky Diver at Ft. Campbell, KY, and on ETS went to DC at age 20 because his parents were in the Silver Spring, MD Suburb.
His civilian work background starting as Bank Teller, Technician at NASA-Greenbelt & learned to use the FORTRAN programming language in the early years of computers (don't tell me some USA government agencies in 2025 are still using COBOL), moonlighted his way through an AA Engineering degree, became a Systems Analyst in the first International Web Network (TYMNet, 1968, while Al Gore was still in college, 1969... then years later "inventing" the internet !!), at the same time moonlighted to a year of MBA work at London's Kingston Polytechnique, and later next worked for an investment banking firm.

The March for Firearms Freedom began as the federal government became too intrusive in private business while at the same time his Gun Pal had quit his doctor profession because the government was interfering with the Doctor-Patient Relationship. Gun Pal went to law school to learn how to initiate the legal challenge while DH became a DC Armed "SPECIAL POLICE" Officer as a method to help advance a case against the DC GUN BAN. He was issued a sidearm to protect government staff, but resident citizens were disallowed to own a firearm to protect their own families. The CATO Institute funded the lead attorneys in the case.
It did not go unnoticed that he was working at the Supreme Court Annex (Thurgood Marshall Federal Judicial Center) building when the initial Parker vs. DC case was filed. He later transferred to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
When he bought his Capitol Hill, DC, house over 49-years ago, it was across the street from a reasonable (if that's possible) welfare housing project which later became the crime-ridden Kentucky Courts. Its last reputation was as an infamous drug haven before finally being demolished.
During that time his brick house received a couple of random(?) bullet holes -- which is a strong motivator for any Patriot to fan the flames of justice, and fight for at least the same level of arms as the bad guys for the purpose of self-defense.
He has seen the results of both failed governmental SOMETHING-FOR-NOTHING give-away policy & programs and a bottom-of-the-ladder failed DC school system which DOES NOT prepare students to enter the job market. Unprepared youths are the root cause of crime which causes them to turn to street drug sales. These youths are the same ones responsible for the bullet holes in the living room window and in the front door of Heller's house.
Mr. Heller founded the "Children's Birthright Trust Fund" charity in 1984 to support worthy children's projects and started by giving away recycled computers to youth groups.
He taught entrepreneur classes in DC Public Schools & housing projects to impressively ambitious youths... who certainly were very keen on escaping the govt poverty trap.
He was the sole plaintiff remaining with the proper legal "standing" in the initial gun case which was then automatically renamed HELLER v. DC. When the Heller team prevailed in lower court, the city challenged -- so the case was automatically renamed DC v. HELLER.
Heller was Treasurer of the Libertarian Party of DC from 2004 to 2009.
“Gun Dude” as Heller is often called, wants everyone to know & enjoy the benefits of that Magnificent Justice Scalia - Magnificent Second Amendment Case. Incensed that our band of brother troops Spill Blood and Lose Life & Limbs in Vietnam for their country and then back home some Wonky (scum sucking... quoting Marlon Brando in the military cowboy movie, "THE WILD BUNCH") Politicians create laws demanding troopers and especially their live-alone wives cannot protect themselves.

Dick Heller continues the struggle to advance Gun Freedoms & other Civil Liberties today with multiple cases.
“DC v. Heller” is perhaps the most important United States Supreme Court case relating to gun rights and the Second Amendment. The case established the individual right to possess firearms for self-defense in the home.
